Walnut Creek, CA — Smarking, Inc., the parking industry’s leading provider of business intelligence software, and ParkSmart, Inc., the largest provider of private off street parking management services in Walnut Creek, CA, are pleased to announce a formal partnership. The two entities will collaborate to integrate transaction level data from parking systems into Smarking’s data analytics platform.

The relationship offers a unique opportunity — ParkSmart CEO, Bob Power, is looking to go above and beyond traditional parking management practices and contribute key metrics from his parking portfolio to the City of Walnut Creek. Power has maintained a great relationship with the City for quite some time and has historically contributed his knowledge regarding occupancy trends and parking durations to city staff during policy discussions.

A partnership with Smarking is set to take Power’s partnership with the City to the next level. Already a Smarking client, the City of Walnut Creek uses Smarking’s Business Intelligence platform to inform parking policy decisions across the portfolio of parking spaces managed by the city. However, the City’s parking footprint represents ~30% of all paid parking spaces in Downtown Walnut Creek.

“I’ve been involved in parking policy decisions at the state level and municipal level for years,” said Bob Power, CEO of ParkSmart. “Outside of streamlining our business operations at ParkSmart, Smarking gives us the ability to quickly communicate and share our parking data with other interested parties. I’ve always worked closely with the cities we operate in, and I’m excited to be able to take that one step further with Smarking.”

Carla Hansen, Parking Manager at the City of Walnut Creek, introduced Smarking to ParkSmart after the City’s Transportation Commission inquired about private parking demand in Downtown,

“The City’s goal is to make parking in Downtown Walnut Creek available and easy to find. This partnership enables us to see the full picture of parking demand in real-time and will allow us to make more informed policy decisions to reach that goal,” said Hansen.

“Holistic parking management means understanding how demand interacts with all available inventory,” said Cassius Jones, Senior Account Executive at Smarking. “Typically, we’ve partnered with municipalities to aggregate on street and off street data together into a single platform.

“This development takes data aggregation to the next logical step, aggregating public and private data together, with our client’s consent and enthusiastic support. We are lucky to have found such great partners in the City of Walnut Creek and ParkSmart.”
